Topical Stamps
Many collector collect "topicals" or stamps which have things in common, The collection may be stamps which picture airplanes, birds, bees, chess, fencing, or any other subject. Over the years I put together a number of different small collections of topicals. In addition to collectors buying these for their collections, others bought them as gifts, door prizes, etc. I have multiple sets of some of these.

Depending upon the number of stamps in the topical collections below, all of the stamps may not be pictured. If all are not pictured, I will note it in the description. There will be no duplicates in these collections unless it is noted in the description. In the 1970'sand early 1980's I found a family in India who put together these collections for me. They bought literally millions of commemorative stamps from around the world and separated them into groups of specific topics. They would soak the used ones off the envelopes and they would also buy excess unusued stamps from governments that had discontinued individual stamps. Many small countries publish stamps as a source of revenue - knowing most will be bought by collectors rather than being postally used. After a certain period of time these would be pulled off the market, cancelled, and sold to dealers and people like the family in India. Unlike the U.S., where any stamp ever issued can be used for postage today, once these stamps are pulled, they are not valid any longer as postage.
