- The War Diaries of U-764 - Fact of Fiction? - This is an absolutely
fascinating book by ex-German U-Boat telegraphist, Heinz F.K. Guske. Guske, a
submariner, was assigned to U-764 and sailed in the boat for 6 missions -
surrendering on May 13, 1945 with the boat. He remained a prisoner of war in the
UK for almost three years. As the boat's telegrapher, he was one of three who
were privy to the Captain's diary. He was astounded at the numerous false
reports the Captain entered, but there was nothing he could do about it until
years later in 1985 he chanced upon a copy of the German U-boat magazine,
Schaltung Kueste" and to his surprise he learned that his former Captain had
written a book based upon copies of his diaries. Guske then "came out of the
closet" and started his research. This great book is the result of his prior
knowledge and his research - "The War Diaries of U-764 - Fact or Fiction?

- The U-Boat Commander's Handbook - This is a direct wartime
translation by the U.S. Navy from the 1943 edition of the German U-Boat
Commander's Handbook. Compiled from combat experience and periodically updated,
the handbook was at the side of every operational U-boat commander. Much more
than a mere guide, it was a bible. A bible givinig exact counsel for every
situation, every maneuver. From night surface attack t defensive measures
necessary to ward off enemy aircraft - nothing is left unanswered. By memorizing
its content, a young or newly appointed commander could draw on the experience
of veteran submariners to assist him in the life and death struggle which
awaited him. And today, as the handbook tells its story, the student of the
Battle of the Atlantic can feel the drama of the U-boat in action. Through this
book, the reader enters the mind of the U-boat commander. There are numerous
illustrations and photographs in this reprint. These were added for the reader's
general orientation. There is also an added section that explains certain terms.

- Creating Profitable Displays - If you are looking for a really nice
sideline, supplement to retirement income, or even a full time work-at-home
business, you might want to consider this. You've heard that great things come
in small packages and that certainly is the case in this valuable little book.
Over the years I have written and self-published scores of how-to and special
interest booklets. I only write about things I have done and my booklets are
tutorials that share my experiences. These booklets are not just "ideas," but
contain everything you need to get started on a shoestring. This is is my latest
one and it covers one of the most fun and financially rewarding of any of my
efforts. "Creating Profitable Displays" takes the reader from coming up with the
idea through billing the item after the sale. It contains sources, methods of
putting your displays together, pricing, marketing and advertising, laying out
your work area, and even how to put together the best sign of any event you will
participate in for around $100.00. It shows you how to make beautiful and unique
displays out of small objects - giving added value to those objects. There are
also pictures of a number of my different types of displays. I started creating
my displays part time about 5 years ago to supplement my retirement income and I
still devote only a few hours a week to creating them. But, they consistently
generate between $1,500 and $2,000 per month. The book is on
CD and you can search for keywords, print all or part, etc.
