Long-time friends, Bernd and Cy, combined their efforts and partnered in 2001. Both were collectors and small dealers of WWII signed photos.
Bernd lives in Schwabisch Hall, Germany. Cy is a 73-year-old retired print shop owner and publisher living in Lufkin, Texas, USA. By combining their resources they are able to acquire larger collections than either would be able to do individually.
Schwabisch Hall is about two hours drive Southeast of Frankfurt and Lufkin is about half way between Dallas and Houston and near the Louisiana border. It was over Lufkin that the Challenger spacecraft exploded.
Bernd operates under the name "heroautographs.com" (www.heroautographs.com) and Cy operates under the name "The House of Gutenberg" (www.hotlinecy.com) Both companies are registered in Lufkin, Texas. Bernd's specialty is WWII German warsigned items and most of our warsigned items can be found at www.heroautographs.com. Cy's specialty is postwar signed items - both US Medal of Honor and German WWII items that can be found at www.hotlinecy.com.
While we sell to both collectors and dealers, the prime focus is quantity sales to dealers.
Both are interested in acquiring collections - both large and small. In addition to acquiring collections, Cy contacts living heroes and offers them a fee for signing quantities of photos. This, however, is getting much more difficult because there are so few of the top WWII heroes still living and most of those who are still living are ill and are no longer signing items. As time passes, these items become more and more valuable because the only way to find them is in collections.
Both also attend various reunions and militaria shows in Europe and the US where they get the opportunity to meet and visit with some of these heroes. An example of one of these events can be seen by clicking here.
